It has been two weeks since the last weekly recap and I am back with some semi-major updates!!!
What I’ve been up to
General updates
I took Thanksgiving week off, hence the gap in the weekly recaps. I didn’t check analytics or anything which felt a bit strange because normally I go through everything once in the morning and once in the evening. Anyways things have settled down quite a bit since I came back! It feels really nice to be done with all the upfront work and now settle into a routine. So far I’ve been spending an hour and thirty minutes per day on side hustles and some days I don’t even do anything!
Blog updates
I wrote an article on how to make a totally free newsletter. This was something I was struggling with for my outfit blog which I mentioned in the last weekly recap but I sorted it out. It actually looks really good- I basically figured out how to embed the substack sign up form into your blog posts, widgets, and popups. This way you benefit from all the substack features (you don’t have to buy a mailing address + no limit on emails/subscribers) while also having readers sign up directly on your blog for a professional feel without using a plugin! Here’s what it looks like:
BEHOLD! Try it out (and subscribe to get more actually helpful budget saving articles)!
You can read the full article for simple instructions on how to do it + the code I used which you can easily customize for your blog!
In other news I made one pin during the last two weeks for the pinterest :\.
Outfit side hustle updates
Like I mentioned above, I fixed the newsletter issue so I did not have to pay anything at all! Woooh frugal side hustling. Anyways that was the biggest issue that I was dealing with.
The other problem was the server which also got fixed, I was able to move over to my new server this week!
I did a mini launch of sorts, I just shared the website with some of my friends and also made one post about it. It didn’t have as big of an impact as I initially thought it would to be honest but I couldn’t really find a good place to share the blog without getting struck down for self-promotion. So I’m just taking it slow instead! I got some subscribers from the mini launch who weren’t from my friends or family so that was pretty good.
I FORGOT THE MOST IMPORTANT UPDATE WAIT WAIT I MADE SOME MONEY HAHAHA. It was a measly $0.84 but hey!!!! It still counts. Actually this money came from one of my pinterest pins that I posted before I started the blog- it was a product pin that I tagged to an outfit collage. This is the first money I made from my pinterest account and the second week I’ve made money ever.
My pinterest pin that has been going viral for like three weeks now appears to have stopped sometime yesterday. I was kind of enjoying racking up the monthly views but I fear I will lose them if none of my other pins start going viral soon. I don’t really know how to make it happen though I think it’s just random tbh. We shall seeee.
Anyways now that my blog is officially established I have begun a routine schedule for posting which is a lot easier to manage than the content grind I was on before. I think I may set one day per month to work ahead on the posting schedule to account for emergencies or lack of motivation.
Insights and takeaways
Research research research
I was about to commit to paying 8 dollars a month for a virtual mailing address and probably a bit more for some sign up form plugin before I did my research and figured out the substack thing. I’m aware that 8 dollars a month is not really that much money, HOWEVER, newsletter costs can rack up pretty quickly and pretty fast if you start to gain lots of subscribers. So my point is, before you take the plunge and pay money for something, make sure that you’ve exhausted all the options you possibly can. I always find reddit a good place to start researching because the chances are very high that someone else had the same problem as you and has posted about it before!
Also you can check out my recommendations page, I have a section for useful articles that can help which I add to as I encounter blogging issues. I also have budget friendly options for essentials that you can’t avoid paying for!

I got four more outbound clicks compared to last time. I think if I took this pinterest seriously and uploaded a pin a day I would be able to see some real progress. I don’t know if I will do that though.

Outfit Website Pinterest
This is kind of crazy to me lol I have >150k monthly views!!! The outbound clicks are also somewhat steady. I’m really hoping more of my pins go viral.
