my stats after six weeks of side hustling

In response to my weekly recap last week, someone on reddit commented to tell me that I should scrap the project and try something new and that I am doing too much at once, etc. That was honestly pretty demoralizing but I think there’s some truth to it- I have been writing mostly generic articles and doing a lot at once. Instead of scrapping the whole project though, I decided to make a few changes to my approach and basically immediately noticed an uptick in my traffic! Without further ado, I present to you my week 6 stats:

Website

I pivoted the direction of the blog quite a bit this week. I added two new sections to my blog: a weekly recap section and a monthly side hustle project report section. I want to have that sort of be the center focus of my blog instead of the mostly technical articles that I’ve been posting in the last month. In the future I will be limiting my technical articles to either responses to requests/FAQs, or to topics that I could not find good resources for.

I posted two blog posts this week: one was just the week 5 recap that I had already written, the other was my first side hustle project report. I plan on updating the SHP reports on a monthly basis from when they are posted!

Stats:

I saw a pretty big jump this week compared to last week:

All time stats last week vs this week:

And the last stat related to my website that I want to share is traffic acquisition. I’ve been getting most of my traffic from reddit actually:

Podcast

In the spirit of doing less I will no longer be working on the podcast. It honestly wasn’t that much fun to do anyways.

Website Pinterest Account

Kinda mid improvement here. It’s been a slow and steady rise but I also haven’t been posting a lot. I try to post around five pins a week which isn’t much but the main problem is I don’t know how to make an engaging pin. I’ve tried multiple different formats and description keywords and stuff and I don’t feel like much has changed.

Stats:

I’m at 5.4k monthly views! Last week I was at 4.4K.

Patreon

I got one whole new subscriber! Big improvement imo. They even asked about my post on bulk uploading pins and I was able to help with that! I knew my article had lowkey substantial information, it took me ages to figure out how to bulk upload since there was zero help online.

I also got 6 visits this week!

Medium

I’ve seen quite a bit of improvement on Medium as well. Not enough to take the leap and start monetizing, though maybe I will get to soon!

Stats:

I gained 2 more followers this week:

My views and reads have more than quadrupled this week (my most read article is the one about bulk uploading pins if anyone is curious):

Reddit

I think reddit is a good source of traffic acquisition because it makes it easy to find communities who are interested in what you have to offer. It’s kind of hard though to show that you are not some spammer advertiser scam affiliate marketer, but I think if you are genuine then it will show!

This week I’ve gained 14 post karma, 2 comment karma (ck is so hard to get :0) and 2 followers!

Side Hustle Project 1: Affiliate Marketing with Outfit Collages – Quick Weekly Recap

Pinterest Account (direct affiliate link pins)

This one got shut down for spam for the third time so I’ve decided to abandon it as well.

Pinterest Account (outfit collages with tagged affiliate products)

I’ve been mostly consistent about posting a pin everyday or every other day but it has also been slow growth. I am currently at 3.3k monthly views, last week I was at 2.2k!

Twitter

I started a twitter account to branch out from pinterest since it hasn’t been doing very much for me. I just opened the account yesterday and posted one pin so I don’t have any insights yet.

Amazon Affiliate program

Nothing has changed since last week. I’m at 25 clicks now instead of 16 but they are all me once again… Also I made different tag IDs for my twitter and my pinterest so that I am able to tell which is getting me more commissions (if any lol).
